We are thrilled to announce that we were successful in our funding bid to provide an emotional well-being hub. We received £5000 from Durham County Council, friends of the school kindly gave us £1500 for internal resources and a neighbour of the school also gave us £200 from his late wife’s funeral collection.
The idea of the SNUGG is something we have had for many years and we have want
ed a designated space to provide tailored therapeutic interventions for our children and families to access. This dream is now a reality and we are grateful to all parents past and present who have donated time and money into our friends of the school fund.
The S.N.U.G.G (Safe, Nurturing, Understanding, Growth and Guidance) was established over the summer and we opened the hub in September.
The space gives the children continuity and tailored provision to support emotional well-being through interventions such as lego therapy, drawing and talking sessions, supervised contact sessions for children to see parents who are under the social services umbrella and one to one counselling within a safe space with amazing resources that promote growth and change from a wide range of presenting issues.
The hub is also a place for parents and carers to meet with Mrs Richardson confidentially to discuss and action worries or difficulties our families and children may be experiencing.
We feel this space is unique and our families will benefit greatly from our SNUGG for many years ahead.
